Fishers police nab robbery suspect

December 20, 2012

Fishers police have arrested a man they say was involved in the robbery of a local jewelry store. Dwayne Pope, 19, was preliminarily charged with robbery, two counts of criminal confinement and theft. Police said Pope and an unidentified man robbed the Jewelry Gallery Store at 116th Street and Allisonville Road on June 11. The gunmen tied up the employees during the robbery.

–John Hanley and Terry Busch of CBRE have been hired to sublease a 177,891-square-foot manufacturing plant on 9.9 acres at Exit Five Parkway near Interstate 69 and 116th Street. The plant, which is being vacated by Diamond Foods Inc. in January, will be available for sublease in February.

Lawmakers may tighten grip on gold-buying business

State lawmakers and Indianapolis officials are looking to regulate the gold-buying business, which police say provides an easy outlet for stolen goods. Cash-for-gold stores have multiplied as prices more than doubled since 2007.

Street Corner Symphony

 You could think of them as the Monkees of a capella music. Street Corner Symphony, the group that took second place on NBC’s “The Sing Off,” didn’t exist for long before the show: The band was formed in order to compete on the television vocal competition. Since its almost-victory, the band has worked with the likes of Ben Folds (a show judge), Claude McKnight and Allison Krauss. Trivia note: Five of the six members of the group are sons of ministers. -The Mint Salon leased 820 square feet of retail office space at Lake Plaza, 6801 Lake Plaza Drive, Suite C304. The landlord, Lake Plaza LLC, was represented by Brady Clements of Skyline Property Group. The tenant represented itself.

Melangton honored as one of top 40 women in sports biz

Indiana Sports Corp. CEO Allison Melangton made a list of 40 top women in sports business published this month. She's the only one on the list working for a local sports commission.

Gas leak prompts evacuations

Emergency personnel in Speedway worked to stop a gas leak Monday morning after construction workers struck a 12-inch gas main at 4700 W. 10th St. A day care business, an industrial park and part of the Allison Transmission plant were evacuated in the area as a precaution.

State to beef up busy south-side interchange

State highway officials are accepting public comments through Monday on the most recent design tweaks for a $45 million reconstruction of the busy interchange at interstates 65 and 465 south of Indianapolis.
