University officials say the plan approved Wednesday will increase tuition for full-time in-state students by about $175 a year. That will make tuition and fees at the Bloomington campus about $10,200 for the coming school year.
IU President Michael McRobbie told trustees meeting in Indianapolis that the proposal was the lowest tuition increase possible while ensuring world-class educational opportunities for students, the Herald-Times reported.
Tuition increases at IUPUI and IU's regional campuses also will increase by an average of 1.75 percent, although those rates will vary.
IU's tuition increase is about the same as what Ball State University plans, while Purdue University is freezing tuition at its West Lafayette campus.
