  1. I would be surprised if a gravel lot would be approved given the fact other lots have had to be paved to control runoff and polution caused by the vehicles using the lot.

  2. BUILD A TALGATE PARKING GARAGE, BUT NO MORE PARKING LOTS. BUILD BUILD BUILD. I get the appeal, especially as a season ticket holder, but parking lots are the death of downtown.

  3. We’re never going to get our “Stadium District” if we just keep paving over the entire near-south of Downtown/Babe-Denny. The Colts need to do a better job of helping manage the transportation demand they create and free up land for development. What if they helped pay for extra bus service on game days? Reduced fares on game days? Included a transit ticket with the price of admission? They’re right at an intersection of two branches of the Cultural Trail and near where the new Henry Street Bridge will land. What if they hired the people who do staffed bike parking at the State Fair and Indy 500 to also staff game days?

I think there are mutually beneficial collaborations to be made. The infrastructure is already there.

    1. Well said, tailgating doesn’t need to mean everyone drives their own vehicle to a surface lot.

  4. Frustrating. No idea why a developer would spend a dollar south of South St knowing the Irsays are committed to turning everything around them into a permanent parking lot that’s empty 350+ days a year.

  5. Level that eyesore now. Let the gravel surface exist for more tailgating now. This is a very small parcel. I believe the Colts organization has proven over the years they are great Hoosier neighbors. This is a small ask by them, and it makes sense now. The good ideas expressed by the contributors here will be taken into consideration by the Colts. I am confident the Colts want and will do what is best for our neighborhood. Sidenote: please remove those concrete barricades on McCarty Street. They are a hazard and are serving no purpose. I work here daily and see no pedestrian or bicycle traffic needing these barricades.

  6. I agree with the previous posters. The entire area around the stadium is bleak and soulless. One more parking lot is but a drop in the bucket of blah surrounding Lucas on all sides. Ideas somebody!! Nashville is already about to outclass us with their new stadium and surrounding district. Gotta’ keep up with the Joneses or lose yardage to other cities.

    1. Nashville is a seedy, low-rent town catering to tourists who love their country music and guns.

  7. I love the fact that all large cities are subsidizing cartels and billionaires like the NFL, NBA. Have you seen the roads in Indy. I think billionaires should be able to pay for their own stadium. I am glad Indianapolis ( and surrounding counties) were able to support Jim Irsay and his quest to be a billionaire…

  8. Just maybe the Colts are trying to get enough ground in order to create their own “district”.
If the stadium was being built today it would certainly include one but it was “not a thing” when Lucas Oil was built.
Controlling the ground is just the 1st step of the process.

    1. Putting forth the idea that stadium or sports districts was not a concept during the planning and construction phases of Lucas Oil Stadium is both comically wrong and disingenuous.

Putting forth the idea the Colts may be secretly proactively trying to do it is dismissive conjecture and foolish. If that were true they would certainly be engaged with the City and an associated list of asks.

Take a nap Eric, you aren’t thinking clearly.
