    3. More like who will use TV to effectively encourage the next generation with a love of learning, reading, science, nature, and history (especially American history). That’s what PBS and especially WFYI did for me, and I have benefited from those programs throughout my entire life.

  3. Mt wife and I pay for PBS Passport and we listen to NPR. We’re happy for this cut in funding. The media landscape has completely transformed over the last 50 years.

    The Federal government MUST CUT SPENDING!!!

    1. Well, the $1.1B they cut from CPB was desperately needed to refurb the “free” jumbo jet Trump got from his good buddies the Saudis.

    2. Maybe we could start by cutting back on golf trips, rose garden transformations, new ballroom for the White house etc etc etc….

    1. Let’s not confuse CPB with PBS. And let’s also realize that CPB helped to fund public stations in rural areas. Those are the stations that help to inform their rural listeners about pesky little emergencies like tornados, floods and hurricanes. Some of those stations will simply not be able to survive.

    2. Sure Dan. This reflects the “truthiness” that Stephen Colbert, in his days when he was actually funny, used to reference. Look where it left him in 2025.

      Particularly hilarious is all the leftie rebuttals dissing Fox News. Yeah, many of us don’t like Fox either, not the least because its relentless war-drum banging, especially for Israel (a position the current admin is foolish for prolonging). But Fox doesn’t have its financing codified through the bang of a Congressional gavel, nor does it owe any of its budget to involuntary extraction from the purses of US taxpayers. Fox’s success (however undeserved) is organic.

      Perhaps the left could use this latest snub as a justification for a good riot? It has been literally hours since their last one. NPR would likely be on the scene to report it as a peaceful protest.

  4. All I can say is what took so long. Americans will be just fine. Any public service that is so blatantly one sided on the political spectrum is not a public service at all. Our country needs to cut spending so much more. This was a great start.

Are heads buried in the sand missinf the liberal lean of NPR? I’ve always viewed it as anti Who doesn’t think our government needs to spend less and stop pushing our children to financial calamity? Why must every opinion be met with name calling and accusation? Sad for the loss, but more broken by our inability to have healthy debate.

    I didn’t realize that “This old House” etc. and children’s programming as well as nature programs were so “leftist”.

  9. PBS made sense in the 60’s and early 70’s when there were 3 major networks and if you were lucky you could get one or two UHF stations. In a world where there are literally thousands of stations, over the air, satellite, cable and streaming, that carry multiple versions of the same shows that we the taxpayers have to fund….there is no need for PBS.

    PBS has a liberal leaning, but then so does most main stream media. There is no need for the taxpayer to pay for it. If people appreciate it and want it, they can support it through subscriptions just as they do with ESPN, HBO or the Hallmark Channel. It is an outlet that has outlived its need.
