  1. Well, Greg, you never know. Indiana has MUCH lower taxes than Illinois and a governor that is not corrupt and OUT OF HIS MIND.
I wouldn’t believe Pritzker no matter what he says. There is a reason so many people from Illinois and Chicago in particular are moving across the state line. Lake County Indiana has been suffering for so long, they would do anything to try and improve
the area. Plus the Hammond, Gary, East Chicago area is actually closer to downtown Chicago than Arlington Heights.

    1. Neil – read some of the specifics of the deal that the Chiefs just got. State funded stadium so you’re not even getting property taxes from the team. All revenue from tickets, parking, and concessions for every event (not just football) going to the team.

Look at the precedent that the state of Indiana set with Jim Irsay and his mediocre football team, a similarly great deal for Irsay.

Explain how giving such a sweet deal to the Chicago Bears for a standalone stadium is going to improve the area. There’s zero stopping the state of Indiana from plowing a billion dollars in infrastructure investments into Lake County.

      https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2026/01/15/repub/sports-stadium-deals-hand-even-more-taxpayer-money-to-billionaires/

    2. Have to agree with Neil. Savings on property taxes alone by coming to Indiana makes this a no-brainer. And the team’s identity will still be Chicago just like the Jets/Giants in New Jersey.

    1. Exactly. There is no chance they will build in Indiana. Lawmakers here are just wasting their time.

  2. Capital letter insults should be avoided. Moving to Indiana from Chicago is hardly an improvement. Moving from Chicago to suburban Chicago is popular, moving to Indiana is not — lower taxes, perhaps but you get what you pay for. Bad roadways, bad schools, bad transportation, and many micro-managing lackey legislators in lock step with enablers of 1930s Germany practices.

  3. Any move is not about education, or the state legislature. It’s all about transportation…getting too and from the stadium; and what are the amenities of the new stadium.

Northwestern Indiana may be closer than Arlington Heights to downtown, but the fans about whom the Bears are most concerned are in the suburbs. The downtown residents can take the train out and back.

I don’t think people think of Northwestern Indiana being part of Chicago like people of think of New Jersey being part of the NYC area. Hoosiers have worked hard to draw that distinction.

While Indiana may happen, I suspect at the end of the day, Arlington Heights is the new home of the Bears, and Soldiers Field becomes more lake front property for a park or a new condo highrise
