  1. Dropping the twice a year DST change is a good idea. Trouble remains that the east coast gets first light and sunrise an hour ahead of Indiana, and their sunset is an hour earlier than Indiana. Which means changing to the central time zone is best for Indiana.

    1. I don’t want anything to do with Central Time. Our late summer sunsets are to die for.

  2. Check it out. In Mitch Daniels’ first campaign for Governor, he promised a statewide referendum on the time zone issue. One of the few campaing promises he failed to deliver on.

  3. Indiana was at one time in the Central time zone but moved to Eastern to be in sinc with the coast. Move us back to Central and leave us on DST or ST.

  4. The scientific/medical consensus is strong agreement that the twice-yearly switching is harmful and should end.

And the majority of experts say if choosing one permanent system, standard time is biologically preferable. Human circadian rhythms are more closely aligned with morning sunlight. Permanent DST shifts sunrise later in winter, meaning darker mornings for more people. Darker mornings are associated with poorer sleep alignment, worse alertness, and potential downstream health effects.

Finally, Indiana should be on central time. Look at a map. It’s obvious.

    1. So you’re saying all of Michigan and central Kentucky (including Louisville) shold also be on CST?

    2. Another reason to be in the Central time zone. A state that is in the Eastern time zone should not be able lay claim to being the “crossroads of America.” Just doesn’t make sense.
