    1. This is all about internal Republican politics: the Speaker relies on the “Freedom Caucus” Republicans and they (pretty much alone) objected to the bipartisan Senate bill.

      So there’s no deal, and no way to pressure the Speaker unless (some) Democrats agree to support him if the Freedom Caucus tries to throw him out.

    2. All this will likely be moot in 9 more months as you point out, but we really can’t go even 9 more weeks without TSA funded.
