  1. “But the team could also own and pay for its stadium and ask state and local officials to develop the infrastructure that makes the construction possible.”

Bwahahahahahaha. What they’re looking for is a state dumb enough to give them ten figures of money. Go look at the terrible deal Kansas “negotiated” for the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s what the Bears are hoping the state of Indiana is foolish enough to do.

    https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2026/01/15/repub/sports-stadium-deals-hand-even-more-taxpayer-money-to-billionaires/

  2. This is a power play by the Bears. Indiana is getting used because of the ridiculous pipe dream that some counties in IL would become a part of IN. Braun should be working hard to build a soccer stadium in Indianapolis so that it can land a soccer team.

  3. GREAT. More of my money on something that doesn’t matter to me. Have the people that care about this pay for it as in fees and ticket prices! At least the Indians pay for their stadium! Why cant all these other sports teams pay for thiers. Oh. That’s right, they spend all thier money on the players. Who each have had a losing team that last few years. Colts havent made it to the superbowl since Coach Dungy. Hearing either Pacers or Colts winning is unusual these days. And now you want us to pay for yet another team?

  4. We’re being told that there isn’t any money for crumbling infrastructure statewide. Cities can barely afford basic services due to reduced funding, departments are told to do more with less – but we can apparently afford to waste millions to lure sports team across state lines, build security fencing and a helipad for the governor on his private property because he refuses to work in Indianapolis full time (although he made the state employees return to office). Not to mention the raises the administration bestowed upon their personal staffing, the list goes on and on. The corruption of this administration is out in the open, and we should all be collectively horrified.

    1. “There isn’t any money for crumbling infrastructure statewide” because The Worst State Legislature keeps cutting taxes, cutting off resources to worthwhile government programs, building new roads instead of maintaining the ones we already have… and at the same time hoarding money for its precious surplus.

  5. The investment in local stadia has been returned significantly! Indianapolis is now a tourist destination primarily because of investment in the convention center, Lucas Oil Stadium and Gainbridge Fieldhouse These are world-class, state of the art facilities and bring millions here. I believe that bringing the Bears to NW Indiana would have a similar return but I also believe they really want to stay in Chicago and ultimately, that’s what will happen.

    1. There’s a difference between being a convention destination and a tourist destination.

If we want to boost NW Indiana, why not invest a billion dollars in infrastructure and schools directly to encourage people to move across state lines … as opposed to giving it to a football team?

  6. I’m not seeing any benefit in my finances from having these teams here. Just my money and tax dollars going to something that doesn’t matter or benefit me!

  7. Why, really, is there such a push for the team move. Is it true interest in the team and because Hoosiers love them? But might some team members be subject to profiling if traveling some roadways of the fine state. So, might one guess the real desire is revenue. And would any means justify actions by the state to bring the Browns to Indiana?
