  1. Meanwhile the “ghost” mayor makes Chief Bailey IMPD (a good and decent man) stand in front of the public explaining all the weekend shootings while the Mayor says what??????? Buehler? Buehler?
    The worst part is the MEDIA give the Mayor a pass.

    1. Absolutely nothing…. I find it disgusting no media is covering the “Ghost Mayor”
      Since the IBJ is the only media outlet allowing discourse….. there are not many options for dissent.

    2. I do agree that it’s a major bummer and quite cowardly that other local outlets have removed their comments sections. Now James Briggs is the only one who gets to share his opinions at the Star

    3. This has what to with IndyGo? Oh, that’s right—nothing. Start a blog or a social media account and then gripe all you like.

    4. Chris and Mike, you are correct, that has nothing to do with the bus station, but since Nate doesn’t print any content not approved by his political masters, this is as good a place as any to comment on the weekly bloodbath and the idiot mayor.

  2. Cool! I always thought it was a little weird that there were metered parking spots right up against the Transit Center, anyway. Seems like it will benefit the Blue Line, at least going towards the airport, since it won’t have to maneuver in and out of the central part of the terminal.

  3. So was this an afterthought for the Blueline, a realization, or part of the plan all along?
    There was a time lane closures and removal of parking spaces required public hearings and public comment. Maybe they changed the rules along the way?

    1. Removal of parking spaces doesn’t require a public hearing. That’s a simple ordinance change that goes through Council.

  4. The only thing that doesn’t make sense to me about the Blue Line’s route is that there are no stops near any of the Airport area hotels. Seems like a real oversight. One stop near the cluster of hotels on the east side of the airport would be pretty useful during big downtown events when there are a lot of out of state visitors.

    1. That was the original intent (it was planned to follow Washington all the way to High School Road and the use Perimeter Road to access the terminal). However, the cost increases to steel, concrete, and the unexpected drainage issues forced IndyGo to make the decision to run express on I-70 west of Holt Road.

    2. I think Sam is thinking more of transit for the staff at the hotels and persons who may want the cheaper stays out by the airport but still want to access Downtown quickly without the expense of a rental car or Uber/Lyft/taxi.

  5. There goes my quick, easy Pacer game parking. Those spots were gold for avoiding traffic next to arena. I can sacrifice that hack, though, for the good of public transportation.

  6. Don’t blame the Mayor for Indianapolis shootings blame the State of Indiana Republicans for the State having laxed gun control. Illinois has complained for years about Chicago shootings the guns coming from Indiana.

    1. I worked for 45 years under all of the previous mayors and never once was there an “empty suit” like we enjoy today. Party affiliation be damned.
      He is making the case for the State idiot repubs to take over the city for them.

    2. Indiana and Indianapolis are both suffering greatly from poor leadership. I didn’t always agree with Eric Holcomb, but I respected him. He kept most of the crazies in the General Assembly at bay. But now Braun is in the Governor’s seat and he’s such a weak sissy that he can’t even keep his own Lt. Governor in check.

  7. Everyone talks about crime downtown, but the deeper problem right here is: Indy keeps building infrastructure that fails people. This new transit hub offers no windbreaks, no heating. This is designed to fail IndyGo riders – just another miserable space in a city full of them. Streets, garages, and public spaces downtown are all designed without comfort, beauty, or usability in mind. It doesn’t have to be this way. We hear so much about being “world class” but, on the world stage we are barely third class because everything here is designed by local architects and planners who have never lived in a real city and don’t understand what makes one work. Indy was a real city a hundred years ago. We will go back to being one only when we realize how world class cities create vitality and attract people with high quality thoughtful design, more attractive human-scaled, and dignified. Indy should demand the same. Leadership must stop accepting mediocrity and start insisting on infrastructure that serves residents well. We can do better, and we must. And yes that demands better leadership both public and private to drive positive change.
