Within the last two months, the Eli Lilly and Co. CEO makes a speech telling us that Indiana needs to get its education act together [“Lilly CEO: Indiana must improve education, reduce health care costs to stay competitive,” IBJ.com, April 20].

Stories and editorials were written about how Indiana missed out on Lilly projects because of a lack of talent in Indiana and that we were doomed if we did not get our education act together [“Lilly CEO has leaders talking about whether state is doing enough to grow Indiana,” April 29].

Last week, Lilly announces a big project in Whitestown, Indiana [“Lilly to anchor state’s new innovation district with $2.1B in manufacturing facilities,” IBJ.com, May 25].

Reminds me of the old saying: When I was 18, my father was the dumbest person I knew. When I was 21, my father was the smartest person that I knew. It is amazing how much he learned in 3 years.

It is amazing how much the Indiana education system improved in a few weeks.
