  1. It will be interesting to see if Republican delegates to their convention realize the total unsuitability of Diego to hold elected office … or if they’re so far down the rabbit hole they still don’t see it after 3 years of incompetence and grifting.

    1. Diego is exactly who the Trumpublicans want in office because he will continue to carry the water for them to prevent as many people as possible from voting. The GOP as we knew it is long gone and buried. The soul of the party has been sold to the devil.

    2. David,
I would agree a vast section of our country has sold its soul to the devil – as evidenced by crime and riots, anti-Christian actions, fraud and abuse. Despite Garcia, who I see as an outlier, its not the conservatives or MAGA crowd who sold their soul to the devil.

    3. Joe, when are you Democrats going to realize the total unsuitability of Hogsett to hold office? From that precedent it looks like Diego has a solid 10 more years of incompetence and grifting to go

    4. Chuck, the only thing less suitable than Joe Hogsett for office is the litany of Republicans they’ve put against him in the last three elections. Maybe you should complain less about Joe Hogsett and complain more towards the Marion County Republican Party not fielding a legitimate candidate.

Marion County Republicans are getting whipped in city elections because their candidates are weak. They don’t stand for anything, just not being the incumbent. That rarely works unless the incumbent is a whole lot awful than Joe Hogsett is.

    1. If he does, he probably won’t waste $90,000 on a luxury SUV bought from a GOP donor to do it!

    1. BlueIndy? The parking meter deal? The Broad Ripple parking garage give-away? Everything?

    2. I don’t like EVERYTHING about Ballard, but I would support him over Hogsett or Morales any day of the week.

  2. Diego needs to go….but this is a ploy, perhaps, to elect Bayh. His dad was a good Secretary of State and I voted once for him for Governor. However, given the direction of the Democrat party, I can never support any action that leads to the election of ANY Democrat!
Republicans need to do the right thing and nominate a good candidate that can win.

    1. I think Beau and Greg would both be good candidates. It would be the first truly competitive ticket in a while.

    2. John, elaborate on the “direction of the Democratic Party” that’s so unsuitable. Is it the idea that Americans should be able to vote in free elections to determine their representatives, or the idea that giving the ultra wealthy more tax cuts paid for by increasing healthcare costs is bad?

    1. Yeah, that’s the kicker. Ballard is a soft-r Republican. He’s willing to cross the aisle, negotiate, and he loves electric cars and public transportation. These are all attributes that the contemporary Republican Party rejects outright.

    2. AR, the Blue Car was a total boondoggle that is in a junkyard or landfill. The Redline is an equal mess that is a huge cost to taxpayers with very minimal use, so yes, Republicans tend to be against bad and costly ideas, no matter how much they appeal to the rainbows and unicorns crowd

    3. You sound like you’d be fun at parties. Yeah, it sucks that BlueIndy didn’t work out, but at least we had a Mayor willing to take a risk. By no extent is is something to get hung up on. The Red Line gets over 1 million riders annually and carries 20% of IndyGo’s ridership on 1% of its network mileage. There’s even an office building that was built afterward called “The Red Line Building.” It was also approved by a VAST majority of voters. Your frustration over that one is just sour grapes.

  3. I really like Greg. He wasn’t a perfect Mayor (nobody is) and I didn’t agree with him 100% of the time. But I frequently found myself nodding to his proposals and his ideas. He’s a pragmatic dude with a true love for Indiana and Indianapolis. I actually think he would do very well in this position. I am a typical D voter but Greg Ballard would probably get my vote.

  4. If he can get on the ballot as an Independent, all that he is going to do is siphon votes from the GOP nominee. This will virtually assure that Bayh will be elected.

  5. Diego needs to go….and this might help to elect Bayh. His dad was a decent Secretary of State but I never voted for him for Governor. Given the direction of the MAGA Republican party, I can never support any action that leads to the election of ANY MAGA Republican!
Ballard is a good guy, but Democrats and traditional Republicans need to come together to elect Bayh and send an incompetent Morales down to road!

  6. I recall his first term, clean as the wind driven snow. By the second term…they got to him as usual. Just like what we have now.
If you want a truly impartial and untainted mayor, ONE TERM ONLY!

  7. Ballard represents what a respectable Republican should be. Unfortunately, the Trumplicans have taken over the party and are willing to sell their souls for a convicted sexual assaulter and fraudster and stick their heads in the sand relative to the hundreds of verified claims and court judgements against him all while waving their flags and crosses.

  8. I think Byah was already a lock, but this probably assures it. GOP backing one of the worst incumbents ever because apparently they are stupid. Throw in a former GOP Independent who will probably peel away some votes and that leaves us with the guy whose only qualifications are being pretty and having a famous last name.

  9. People who use the word Trumplican and fraudster are #1, exactly what Ballard is running against, and #2, putting their heads in the sand regarding the massive and many significant accomplishments of our current president who will go down in history as one of the best presidents the country has ever had. Nancy Pelosi and the Dems derailed his first term with COVID, or he would have been re-elected then. Any negative press about him has come from those who did not want to give up their power and ability to grift their way to wealth off the backs of the American people. DOGE exposed that, and the FBI is now exposing how corrupt the prior administration really was.

    1. Rebecca, what planet did you come from? Trump is a con, a grifter, and a pedophile. Yet you worship him? Wow.

    2. I laughed so hard at this. Certainly, this is satire. DOGE never uncovered any such thing, nor has Patel’s FBI. lololol
