    1. you…”eyesore”… get a clue.
And…whats your source for the “waste”,expecting you to be an expert and insider on sustainability investments, their return, etc. Certainly, much more informed than the experts…EXPERTS that determine a good location ( large empty and otherwise difficult to “develop”parcel that could bring long term positive impact?) Your turn, Philip.

    2. It produces electricity, Felicia. Can you point to all the glamorous-looking non-solar electric plants?

Just say you are a lemming who will support any goofy thing Trump does as you run with the herd, and call it a day,

    1. Sure, Phil. Tell that to your kids and grandkids. They’ll be proud of your memory when they’re dealing with the devastating consequences of your generations utter inability to be accountable for… anything really

    1. Great, then the money should have been redirected to construct a federal new nuclear plant at the airport.

And, since the SMALLEST “micro” nuclear plant is estimated to cost at least $20 million, I assume Trump will sell some of the gaudy gold-gild he put up in the White House, and donate the $13.2 million difference, along with the stolen grant money, to fund the cost of this nuclear plant.

  1. It’s interesting that they added solar at our local school system, and the overall cost of electricity being paid for has gone down and the savings has more than covering the cost of the solar installation. This “green scam” is saving taxpayers money.

    1. That’s why Republicans hate it. People having individual energy independence and not being reliant on big utility corporations? That’s a Republican nightmare.

    2. I would love to see your math on the saving money, Brad. Be sure and remove the government subsidy.

    3. Sure Anthony. As soon as you remember the subsidies from coal and gas to give us the picture of how much those cost. Don’t forget to factor in adverse health affects too

  2. Hmmm… That millions of dollars the airport would have spent paying Hoosier contractors has gone up in smoke, In addition, the energy savings generated by these lost projects is now gone and Hoosiers will have to pay the additional costs.

It on’y sounds like a “WIN” if all you want to do is “own the libs”, otherwise I think many Hoosiers voters are just shooting themselves in the foot.

Oh and for the guy that says they “look ugly”. Consider an empty field produces nothing useful. Even if it were planted with crops, it only uses the sunlight about 6 months out of the year. A field of solar panels harvests sunlight year round.

  3. Unless the airport authority releases the financial statements related to the solar energy system utilized by the facility at IND, this article is useless along with the comments above.

We all know solar is add on but has yet to be proven cost effective for energy production.

Financial statements from installation to date would help constituents make an informed decision on the matter.

    1. Really wish you people would spend time catching up on current data instead of repeating decades old tired talking points to us over and over again. Wind and solar is cheaper and more reliable than coal and natural gas. It’s no longer a debate. And it’s shown in republicans sheer terror at the grub being modernized to support clean energy

    2. JCB, you must be new here. IBJ doesn’t give data and information, they print clickbait headlines aimed at their target audience. Notice how a solar electric system dependent on other people’s money is positioned in the headline as “airport infrastructure”? It sounds like there are potholes in the runways.
Stop asking questions about systems viability. Solar is awesome because Michael and Robert say it is, and people who use “you people” in their comments are always right

    3. Solar is awesome because the data says it is. And if you can’t accept that, deal with it internally. The rest of us shouldn’t have to suffer bc you can’t educate yourself.

    4. It’s a public government body, and you or anyone can go and file a records request for that information.

Of course, that takes a modicum of effort and it is not nearly as much fun as sitting in your chair, crunching on chips, while typing furiously about conspiracies and alleged “scams.”

  4. The Indianapolis International Airport is home to the IND Solar Farm, which creates 17.5 MW AC of power, and has the capacity to power 3,210 homes for a year. The electric energy generation facility includes 87,488 solar photovoltaic panels, each capable of producing a range of 280-305 watts at peak power production.

    1. More importantly, what percentage of the airport’s electrical needs does the solar farm supply?
