F1 rules are nuts – Herta is more than qualified to drive but might be better off given the team is unlikely to be competitive early on.
He’s qualified to drive but he’s honestly underperformed for years now. Kyle Kirkwood might be more interesting … or Jak Crawford, who would know the tracks as an F2 driver …
I was hoping we’d see Daniel Riccardo, or maybe Sebastian Vettel, make a return next to Colton Herta. But Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez are a solid pairing for a new team. I think it’s just a matter of time before Herta gets one of the seats.
No other F1 team seems to care where their drivers are from. They want the fastest driver they can get. I have been watching a lot of F1 and it is a much more interesting that turning left all the time. Pit stops are 3 seconds, because they never refuel. New tires and they are out. 40 MPH to 200. 8 gears. Great fun! I was always disappointed that the racing capital of the world never participated.
Good luck to Cadillac!
FYI – F1 was at IMS from 2000-2007. There are multiple reasons for why it left.
