An extended stay hotel is in the works for Whitestown. Indianapolis-based developer Loftus Robinson LLC has filed plans for a 122-room WoodSpring Suites that would be within the Anson development near Interstate 65 and Whitestown Parkway.
The 2.7-acre site is east of Perry Worth Road, north of a detention pond and west of the Blvd at Anson apartment complex.
Drew Loftus, partner of Loftus Robinson, said the project would cost about $7.7 million.
“The quality and efficiency of this extended stay brand serves the needs of customers that are not currently being served in this area of the market,” Loftus said in an email. “This hotel is designed to welcome guests that are in town for a longer period of time and provide the comforts of home, such as larger rooms, a kitchenette and onsite laundry.”
Whitestown only has one hotel right now—the Hampton Inn on Main Street north of Whitestown Parkway—but the Holiday Inn Express at Anson is expected to open soon.
WoodSpring Suites has six Indiana hotels, including locations in Greenwood, Plainfield and one on the west side of Indianapolis near the Indianapolis International Airport.
WoodSpring Hotels has two brands—WoodSpring Suites and Value Place. The Wichita, Kansas-based hotel company is quickly expanding its reach—25 hotels are expected to open within a year and 34 hotels have opened since July 2015.
Construction on the Whitestown hotel could start in August, and it would take about 12 months to complete.
In addition to the hotel project, Loftus Robinson has several ongoing developments in the Indianapolis area.
In April, the real estate developer acquired downtown’s One North Penn building at the northeast corner of Washington and Pennsylvania streets. It plans to renovate the property. Loftus Robinson also acquired the J.F. Wild & Co. State Bank Building at 129 E. Market St. in 2014 and spent $7 million to renovate the 12-story building.
The company also is pursuing a $50 million mixed-use project in Speedway that would include a 150-room hotel, 10,000 square feet of retail, 90 apartments and a parking garage on property adjacent to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Construction of that development is expected to start in the fall.
