A 17-year-old girl who was shot in her Carmel home Monday during an attempted robbery was in good condition Tuesday morning at St. Vincent Hospital. The Carmel High School student was at home in the Clay Center subdivision on fall break when a man broke into the house about noon. Police said the man, who was wearing a sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black ski mask, shot the girl in the leg following a brief encounter and ran away.

A Carmel mother and her son were arrested Wednesday on drug charges following a two-month investigation by the Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force. Dawn Fahey, 43, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony. Jonathon Fahey, 24, was charged with three counts of dealing in a controlled substance, a Class B felony. A search of the Fahey home, in the 100 block of York Drive, discovered suspected heroin, suboxone, hydrocodone and drug paraphernalia.
BMW Championship practice began Tuesday at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel after rain washed away Monday’s scheduled events, including the Celebrity Shootout and Corporate Cup. Carmel police hope two arrests Monday will end a six-week string of daytime home burglaries. Two of three juveniles were taken into custody after witnesses say they saw them break into the back a home in the Walden Pond neighborhood near 99th Street and Westfield Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m. Before the break-in, the teens knocked on the doors of other homes and asked residents if they had seen a missing dog. Police say the method is similar to the approach used in multiple break-ins this summer in Carmel.

Carmel police are looking for two suspects after an armed robbery. The victims told police that a brown Chevrolet Impala pulled up next to them at 10801 N. Michigan Road Tuesday night. Two men with guns got out of the car and demanded money. After the victims handed over a wallet and purse, the men drove away. No one was injured.
Carmel Police are warning residents about an increase in burglaries in the city. The city has received reports of at least 17 burglaries since June 1, including four over the July 4 holiday. In many of the burglaries, intruders knocked on the front door before breaking into unoccupied homes. If somebody answered the door, the suspects claimed to be selling magazines or looking for a lost pet.
