Toddler drowns in Mooresville

June 27, 2013

A 2-year-old Indianapolis boy drowned Wednesday night after falling into a pool at his grandparents’ home in Mooresville. Morgan County authorities were called to the scene in the 11600 block of North Mann Road at about 10:15 p.m. Damon Nicely was pronounced dead a short time later. Relatives said the boy left the house and nobody noticed until it was too late.

Worker furloughs near at Indiana’s Crane base

The furloughs caused by automatic federal budget cuts will start the week of July 8 and continue through September. The base’s nearly 3,100 Navy employees and 800 Army workers will see a 20-percent pay cut during that time.

Slower U.S. growth might lead Fed to keep up stimulus

Body found in car in Greenwood

Police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a car at a business park near the Greenwood Airport. An acquaintance of the dead man called 911 after finding the body about 9 p.m. Tuesday. Officers said they are treating the death as a homicide while the cause is being determined.
 

Lightening causes fires in Zionsville

June 26, 2013

Zionsville firefighters had a busy Tuesday night, battling two separate house fires caused by lightening strikes. The first took place in the 9400 block of Greenthread Drive about 10:45 p.m. and caused an estimated $100,000 or more in damages. The second blaze was reported an hour later in the 3500 block of Flagstone Drive. Damages in the small attic fire were estimated at $7,500. No injuries were reported in either fire.
 

Five nabbed after Fishers bank robbery

June 26, 2013

Three men and two women were taken into custody after the Community Bank branch in Fishers was robbed Wednesday at about 8 a.m. FBI agents said they have been watching some of the suspects for weeks and suspect them of multiple bank robberies in the Indianapolis area. The suspects were detained in the parking lot of the nearby Baymont Inn near 96th Street and Interstate 69 shortly after the robbery.
