Sarah Scharbrough, whose voice might ring a bell from TV jingles for Ford, Dodge and the Indiana Pacers, will be joined by Jon McLaughlin, the Anderson native whose debut album “Indiana” put him on the singer/songwriter map in 2007. An overnight accident involving two semitrailers closed an interstate exit ramp in Boone County. Police said a semi driving on the southbound I-65 ramp to eastbound I-865 apparently jackknifed about 12:30 a.m. The second truck couldn't slow down in time and crashed into it. Neither driver was seriously injured and the ramp reopened about 6 a.m.
A man who got into a shootout with Shelbyville police in January has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. Officers shot and seriously wounded 23-year-old Lyman Dawson when they say he fired in their direction as they tried to catch him after he had shot at residents who spotted him trying to break into a car. The Whiteland resident pleaded guilty in August to attempted murder and other charges. Dawson said during Monday's sentencing hearing that he had been using the synthetic drug known as bath salts before the shooting.
Indianapolis police investigators are awaiting autopsy results to help them identify the victim of a fatal shooting on the city's southeast side. The victim was found about 7:15 p.m. Monday in the back seat of a car at English Village Apartments near Shortridge Road and English Avenue about 7:15 p.m. The man suffered a gunshot wound to his face.
