Gun collection stolen from Muncie home

Police say thieves stole more than 120 handguns and rifles from a gun collector’s home in Muncie. Investigators say
that would be enough weaponry to outfit a small militia, but think the guns will be sold for cash. The collection, which features
many antique guns, is valued at more than $200,000. Muncie police want to talk with two women who had visited the 70-year-old
victim.
 

Latest Lilly job cuts target marketing employees

Indianapolis-based drugmaker Eli Lilly and Co. is on course to cut 5,500 jobs by the end of 2011 in a bid to eliminate $1
billion in annual expenses.

Hoosier Marine dies in Afghanistan

A Hoosier Marine has died in the line of duty. The Department of Defense confirmed 1st Lt. Brandon Barrett of Marion died
Wednesday supporting combat operations in Afghanistan. Barrett, 27, was assigned to the 2nd Marine division based at Camp
Lejeune in North Carolina. He graduated from Marion High School in 2001 and was a standout athlete. He graduated from the
U.S. Naval Academy in 2006.

 

City gets set for Mini-Marathon

The 34th running of the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon kicks off Saturday at 7:30 a.m. with 35,000 registered runners, the event’s
ninth straight sellout. The race, the largest half-marathon in the United States, sold out five months ago. The Mini-Marathon
Expo continues Friday at the Indiana Convention Center, where more than 80 exhibitors will be on hand. Fox59 will have more
at 4 p.m.
