Detectives believe a Geist-area man found dead in his home was killed. At first, police thought Steve Pence, 49, who was
legally blind, may have accidentally fallen down stairs, but investigators say he suffered blunt-force trauma to the head
consistent with homicide; also, an upstairs window was broken in the house, which is in the 11000 block of Windhaven Court.
His body was found Wednesday by a concerned neighbor. Police say they have few leads to go on.
 

Sheridan police said they shot at a man who tried to run them over late last night. Officers saw a pickup truck they thought
was stuck in the snow, but the driver took off when officers got out to help. Investigators say he tried to run over one of
the officers before heading onto State Road 47. The officers fired shots at the truck to stop him as he led them on a chase
at speeds up to 90 mph. The truck eventually crashed in a snowy field. Police say the driver had been drinking. Fox59 will
have more at 4 p.m.
