Bank seeks to foreclose on Polo Club restaurant

The south-side steakhouse is named in lawsuit stemming from a $1 million loan made to the former owners of a Steak & Ale restaurant at the location on South East Street.

March 25, 2011

-ExactTarget leased an additional 26,103 square feet at The Century Building, 36 S. Pennsylvania St. The tenant was represented by Jenna Barnett of Newmark Knight Frank Halakar. The landlord, Blue Real Estate, was represented by Matt Langfeldt and Rich Forslund of Summit Realty Group.

-Millcraft Paper Co. leased 22,500 square feet of industrial space in Jackson Industrial Park, 3330 Pagosa Court. The tenant was represented by Don Ballard and Steve Beals of Lee & Associates. The landlord, First Industrial Realty Trust, was represented by Mary Sullivan of First Industrial.

-Yellow Pages Group leased 12,128 square feet at 9200 Keystone Crossing. The tenant was represented by Brian Askins of UGL-Equis. The landlord, Philadelphia-based BPG Properties Ltd., was represented by John R. Robinson and Abby L. Cooper of Jones Lang LaSalle.  

-Gordon Flesch leased 7,031 square feet at 9200 Keystone Crossing. The tenant was represented by Dave Black of CresaPartners. The landlord, Philadelphia-based BPG Properties Ltd., was represented by John R. Robinson and Abby L. Cooper of Jones Lang LaSalle.   

-health at home LLC leased 3,987 square feet of office space at 5455 W. 86th St.  The landlord, Polaris Commercial Investments LLC, was represented by Scott H. Lindenberg of Echelon Realty Advisors. The tenant represented itself.

-Anchor Point Technology Resources leased 3,934 square feet of office space at 8440 Woodfield Crossing Blvd. The landlord, Cassidy Turley Midwest Inc., was represented by Darrin Boyd and Dave Moore of Cassidy Turley. The tenant represented itself.

-American Equity Mortgage has leased 3,448 square feet at 9000 Keystone Crossing. The tenant was represented by Joe Oliaro of Copaken Brooks. The landlord, Philadelphia-based BPG Properties Ltd., was represented by John R. Robinson and Abby L. Cooper of Jones Lang LaSalle.

-MMY Consulting has leased 3,418 square feet at 8900 Keystone Crossing. The landlord, Philadelphia-based BPG Properties Ltd., was represented by John R. Robinson and Abby L. Cooper of Jones Lang LaSalle. The tenant represented itself.    
 
-Helen Goldstein leased 3,016 square feet at 8900 Keystone Crossing. The tenant was represented by Mary Beth Kohart of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, Philadelphia-based BPG Properties Ltd., was represented by John R. Robinson and Abby L. Cooper of Jones Lang LaSalle.

-Anacore, Inc. leased 2,230 square feet of office space at 11711 N. College Ave. The tenant was represented by Bennett Williams of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, CFS LLC, was represented by Darrin Boyd and Dave Moore of Cassidy Turley.

-Crimson Meridian LLC, d/b/a Pot Belly Sandwich, leased 2,179 square feet at Circle Tower, 55 Monument Circle. The tenant was represented by Carol Lockhart of Baum Realty Group. The landlord, FT-Circle Tower LLC, was represented by Pete Anderson, Jacque Haynes and Bennett Williams of Cassidy Turley.

-Next Step Computer Training LLC leased 2,159 square feet of office space at 8777 Purdue Road. The tenant was represented by Darrin Boyd and Dave Moore of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, IMG Realty Trust 2 LLC, was represented by Matt Kiger of Newmark Knight Frank Halakar.

-Rent-A-Center East Inc. leased 2,000 square feet of office space at 8727 Commerce Park Place. The landlord, Dhillon Commerce Park LLC, was represented by Darrin Boyd and Dave Moore of Cassidy Turley. The tenant represented itself.

-H.J. Umbaugh & Associates Certified Public Accountants LLP leased 1,963 square feet of office space at 8365 Keystone Crossing. The tenant was represented by Chris Carmen of Carmen Commercial Real Estate Services. The landlord, Sourwine Real Estate Services, was represented by Andrew Martin of Cassidy Turley.

-Village Osteopath LLC leased 1,446 square feet at 11530 Allisonville Road. The tenant was represented by Kurt Meyer of Baseline Inc. The landlord, Bendrew Development LLC, was represented by Matt Langfeldt and Rich Forslund of Summit Realty Group.

-Public Consulting Group leased 936 square feet at 150 Market St. The tenant was represented by Andrew Martin of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, National Education Association, was represented by Matt Langfeldt and Rich Forslund of Summit Realty Group.

Sales/acquisitions

March 25, 2011

-St. Louis-based Thiemann Real Estate LLC bought the 256-unit Washington Quarters Apartments at 40 Capitol Drive, Avon, for approximately $18 million. The buyer was represented, in part, by Kevin MacKenzie and Jon Everson of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP. The seller, Crossmann Properties LLC, was represented by John Sebree and David Keller of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler.

-Brechbuhler Scales bought two acres at Decatur Boulevard and Narita Road in the AmeriPlex-Indianapolis Corporate Park, where it will build a 12,000-square-foot flex industrial/office building. The price paid for the land wasn’t disclosed. The buyer was represented by Chip Barnes of Jones Lang LaSalle. The seller, Holladay Properties, represented itself.

Another suit filed in Emmis, financier dispute

March 25, 2011

Emmis Communications Corp. is accusing Alden Global Capital, which once backed Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan’s attempt to take the company private, of violating the “short-swing rule.” This is the third suit involving the parties since Smulyan called off the move last year.

Lottery giving away tickets

The Hoosier Lottery is trying to add to the excitement of Friday night's $312 million estimated Mega Millions jackpot by giving away hundreds of free tickets at three central Indiana retailers. The first 304 people at each location will receive a free shot at the jackpot. The giveaways started this morning and end Friday afternoon at the Village Pantry at 86th Street & Ditch Road.
 

Two arrested in Carmel after chase

March 25, 2011

A high-speed chase in Carmel early Friday morning ended in a crash and two people taken into police custody. Officers spotted a red Kia rental vehicle driving 100 mph on Keystone near 106th Street at about 3 a.m. They tried to pull the car over, but the driver took off. The car crashed at 146th Street and Greyhound Pass, where the road dead-ends. Police say the 57-year-old driver and a 29-year-old passenger appeared to be intoxicated.
 

Teen in custody after school shooting

March 25, 2011

A teenage boy was shot at a central Indiana middle school shortly before classes began Friday and a fellow student is in custody, state police said. The victim and a 15-year-old suspect are both students at Martinsville West Middle School, where the shooting took place. The victim was airlifted to Methodist Hospital about 30 miles away in Indianapolis and is “assumed to be in serious condition,” police said. The suspect had been suspended or expelled from school earlier in the week.
 

Sluggish demand for electric car forces layoffs at Ener1

Battery maker Ener1 has laid off about 3 percent of its 770 employees worldwide, partly because of lower-than-expected demand from the Think electric car being assembled in Elkhart. It had about 380 workers in central Indiana.

State unemployment rate drops to 8.8 percent

The February decline marks the first time the state’s jobless rate has been below 9 percent since December 2008. Still, the state lost 1,600 private-sector jobs and 6,300 government jobs in February.

Brightpoint settles lawsuit with vendor

The distributor of wireless phones agreed to drop its complaint, which accused a Massachusetts software provider of fraud and negligence in addition to breaching its agreement and warranty.

Butler University to close 102-year-old dance academy

Butler University said Thursday that it plans to close its Jordan Academy of Dance due to economic reasons. The academy, which has more than 200 students, ages 3-17, will shut down May 31.

Finish Line reports rise in quarterly earnings, sales

The Indianapolis-based retailer earned $34.3 million in its fiscal quarter, compared with $30.6 million a year ago. Revenue rose 2.7 percent, to $384.6 million.

The toning trend in athletic shoes apparently has run its course. Sales of the oddly shaped shoes fell more than 45 percent in the fourth quarter for The Finish Line Inc., but the local retailer still posted improved profit and revenue.

Johnson County Prosecutor Brad Cooper said one of his deputies resigned Thursday after admitting he sent an email to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker suggesting the Republican fake an attack on himself to discredit the public employee unions protesting his plan to strip them of nearly all collective bargaining rights.
