Man arrested after chase, accident

A 44-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning following a short police pursuit on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Tod Spradlin was arrested on charges of fleeing and resisting law enforcement. A police officer said the chase started when he tried to stop Spradlin, driving a 1999 black Chevrolet Blazer, for a traffic violation on Fall Creek Road about 9:15 a.m. Spradlin’s vehicle reached speeds of 90 mph before wiping out  after side-swiping at least two vehicles while trying to avoid backed-up traffic at 46th Street and Binford Boulevard. Spradlin has an open warrant in Marion County for driving while intoxicated.

Cops find body in bullet-riddled truck

Indianapolis police answering a call about a suspicious vehicle Wednesday night discovered a dead body and a truck riddled with bullet holes. The body of a black male in his early 20s was found about 9:30 p.m. in the cab of the pickup in the 2300 block of Kessler Boulevard North Drive, just east of Lafayette Road. Police found a number of shell casings a block north of the scene. Police closed Lafayette Road for a short time so detectives could process the crime scene.

Couple struck by SUV die from injuries

Two pedestrians hit by a sport-utility vehicle Tuesday night on a busy road in Castleton died in the hospital Wednesday. Sydney Campbell, 19, and her boyfriend, 21-year old Jason Uhrin, were crossing East 82nd Street, heading home to the Lakeshore Apartments, when the accident occurred about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday. The victims were crossing the street just west of Allisonville Road in a dark area without a traffic light or crosswalk. No charges were filed against the driver.
