Welcome to the latest installment of  “Leading Questions: Wisdom from the Corner Office,” where
IBJ sits down with one of central Indiana’s top bosses to talk shop about their industry and the habits that
lead to success.

In a bit of a departure this week, we've interviewed Roger Staubach, the NFL Hall of Fame quarterback turned commercial
real estate brokerage mogul. Starting his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 1969, Staubach worked in the off-seasons as a
commercial real estate broker for the Dallas-based Henry S. Miller Co. Looking beyond the gridiron, he formed his own firm,
The Staubach Co., in 1977.

In 2008, Staubach sold the firm to international real estate services giant Jones Lang LaSalle, in a deal worth more than
$600 million. Now an executive chairman for JLL, Staubach visited Indianapolis on June 16 for a promotional event for the
firm. In the video below, Staubach, 68, details his introduction to the real estate industry and the lessons
he learned on the football field that helped him build a career in this new arena.

In the bonus video below, Staubach reflects on his biggest missteps off the field, and how the Dallas Cowboys'
surprising turnaround in the 1971 season (which ended with a Super Bowl title) helped inform his philosophy for placing personnel.
