Well, I guess they set the bar pretty low since all cars entered into the race get a starting spot whether they actually do a qualifying run or not. And they run Ferrari engines, which did well otherwise with other teams. After dissing Ford for their effort only with engines with Red Bull, which had finishes of 6 on down with three cars and one car DNF for engine failure, they should expect to do better.
It should be noted that rule changes this year required all manufacturers to develop new engines and chassis. Cadillac had a shorter timeframe from acceptance but I am sure they were working on the chassis before acceptance into F1.
