8 years of notice yet 3 weeks of bad weather prevented completion? The CIB should be explaining to taxpayers why they had to spend a seven figures from a contingency fund like this and who dropped the ball.
Just think how may free druggie needles could have been purchased with the money wasted on temporary asphalt
Good job Indy Politicals. You have shown your utter incompetence once again. If all they needed was a parking lot, move it to one of the city’s empty malls.
Just irresponsible and indicative of our construction process in Indiana! So pathetic.
I-465 at the I-69 exchange was to be completed in late 2025. Have you gone through that construction zone recently? No end in sight!
The I-465 mainline outside of the I-69 interchange limits was actually supposed to be done in mid-2024.
Why such negativity? Let work to not allow Indiana to devolve and divide. A bunch of good, hard working people who love our city missed a deadline for several valid, and maybe some avoidable reasons. We shouldn’t cut things so close, but that snowstorm was well beyond normal. At the end of the day, the city and our businesses will realize more than $400k in economic value from the events this weekend and the world will yet again see Indy perform as “The City Where Champions Are Crowned!!!” Be proud of our hometown and if you can’t be positive, be quiet.
Yea but Steve, it’s so convenient for these people to comment mean things about the beautiful city we love from their trailers in Lapel or wherever. Luckily for us, nobody takes their opinions seriously. We can only hope they one day they get over their agoraphobia and spend some time mingling with their fellow Americans. They might be a bit less hateful if they do
Shocking that something like this could happen while Hogsett is still in office. I mean, the state of our roads and infrastructure around the city is fabulous! There is never any trash littering the sides of streets, ever. When an animal is hit and laying in the road, it is picked up within minutes. When there is a car accident and fenders, bumpers, wheels are laying in the side of the road, they are immediately picked up as well! This city is run like a well oiled machine, we should all be so proud to show it off on weekends like the Final Four and Indy 500!
Not.
Seems like we have lost some of our “can do” mentality. I am glad they found a work around and in the end most of the general public will most likely not notice but the ones who “know” are those key decision makers who award events like these. Lets get back to planning BIG and pulling it off or we are going to lose the opportunity of hosting these events.
It’s fine. Everyone’s so negative all the time…
Delays beyond one’s control are understandable, but it’s a tough story to read considering the terrible road conditions of Washington Street, Emerson Avenue, Rawles Ave. and many others.
The crossroads of America …scary.
I understand the call to be positive about our state, but tell me then, where is the accountability? Are we to passively just ignore it and “don’t worry, be happy”?
