Indiana is not a pro-life state, it’s a pro-forced birth state, and they’ve proven is in spades since they rushed into special session a few years ago to pass a zero-second abortion ban while at the same time ignoring or cutting funding to any number of things that actually would show they’re pro-life.
Don’t believe me? Wait until the Legislature passes a ban on vaccine mandates for diseases like measles and polio in the next session and really drives home my point yet again. Because what better way to show you value the sanctity of life than to bring back diseases that kill or maim kids?
This is the most comically obvious example of “Let them eat Cake” that Indiana Republicans have executed in recent memory.
Financial incentives to send kids to private schools for the rich, and increasing the cost of childcare for the poor
I guess this is what people voted for?
Well, this is what the legislature that chooses its voters decided to give the citizens. I don’t think one can reasonably argue people actually voted for choices in the legislature. Or Congress….the winners were dictated several years ago.
Governor Gerry, your legacy lives on, and indeed thrives, in Indiana…
First the Indiana regime outlaws abortion, thus forcing people to give birth, then they take away support for those children and their families. Seems ironic, but for the legislature we had little to no choice in (thank you Uncle Gerrymander) this is their MO. Screw the least of us, and pump up the upper echelon.
I may be Jewish, but this brings to mind WWJD. If these legislators and the governor profess themselves as “good Christians”, they would be wise to learn a little more about the teachings of their God. “…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40) In this case you can exchange the word “for” with “to”.
The version of Christianity that our legislators and folks like Micah Beckwith practice is decidedly light on the teachings of the first four books of the New Testament, and that’s no accident.
