A fire on the east side of Indianapolis kept crews busy late into the night Tuesday. Fire engulfed three businesses in the
4800 block of East Michigan Streetâ??an insurance company, a music studio and a sporting goods store. Getting it under control
was a challenge for firefighters, who had to contend with frozen hydrants for the second time this week. A fire early Monday
that burned down the Texas Roadhouse near 16th Street and Shadeland Avenue quickly spread because firefighters spent 15 minutes
looking for a non-frozen hydrant.
The Children’s Bureau Inc. has moved into offices in the Gene Glick Family Support Center.
The move represents the first time in 50 years that Children’s Bureau administrators have worked in the same building
that
houses their programs for families and children in crisis.
Bobby Joe’s Beef and Brew, a popular home-grown restaurant at Southport Road and Interstate 65,
has closed. Riviera Maya, billed as an authentic Mexican restaurant, is slated to replace Old Town Ale
House in Fishers
Dozens of Chrysler and General Motors dealers in Indiana were terminated last year. Now, a dealer trade group wants to
block automakers from preying on termination fears to wrest concessions from surviving dealers.

Indianapolis Metro Police are investigating a Saturday night homicide at a Shell station on the city’s west side. Investigators
say 52-year-old Ousmane Gueye was killed while working at the gas station near Kessler Boulevard and West 16th Street. Police
say Gueye apparently was engaged in a struggle with the suspect before his death. A customer found Gueye’s body about
9:20 p.m.

Health care real estate has survived the nation’s weak economy better than most sectors, and some owners and developers
think it’s positioned to thrive.
The 1,000-room J.W. Marriott isn’t even finished and support already is emerging for a second downtown hotel that

A proposal to add optional toll lanes to parts of Interstates 69 and 65 raises all kinds of questions, such as how to squeeze
more lanes into the crowded I-69 corridor northeast of the city. And it’s debatable whether toll lanes could make more
money than they cost to implement.
In a speech Tuesday, President Michael McRobbie said IU is gunning to construct at least 12 buildings on its Bloomington
and Indianapolis
campuses in spite of the economy and falling state funding.
