Clarian expanding neurosurgery unit, aiming for national draw

Methodist Hospital is spending $27 million to renovate its neurosurgery suites as the centerpiece of a big expansion its owner, Clarian Health, hopes will create nearly 1,200 jobs over the next decade and vault Methodist into the top 10 neurosurgery sites in the nation.

The Marion County Alcoholic Beverage Board voted to approve a carryout liquor license for the historic downtown site. The permit will allow the Indiana Brewers Guild to open a bar featuring local craft beers.

Kite Realty Group Trust has landed Goodwill, Dollar Tree and Mexico City Grill for a renovation of its Fishers Station shopping center at the northeast corner of 116th Street and Allisonville Road in Fishers.

CIB approves 2011 budget

Including debt obligations, the CIB’s total budget for 2011 is expected to be $104.4 million. The City-County Council is set
to receive the budget at its Sept. 20 meeting and could approve it Oct. 25.

Police: Local homeowner shoots attacker

August 9, 2010

Indianapolis police say a homeowner shot a man who attacked him with a pipe wrench during an apparent robbery attempt. Emergency
workers called to the city's south side Sunday evening found a man with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and arm. Police
officers followed a blood trail about a half-block to a house where they found the 59-year-old homeowner with head injuries.
The homeowner told officers that the other man had helped him with home renovations. The homeowner said the man suddenly attacked
him with the wrench. He  was able to fight off the attacker and get a handgun, then fired two shots, he told police.
