A man who attempted to rob an armored car on Sunday afternoon was taken into custody after being shot by a guard and captured by bystanders. Indianapolis police said that the driver of the Brink’s truck was leaving the Wal-Mart in the 7200 block of U.S. 31 when the suspect attacked him with pepper spray. The guard shot the man, who was wearing body armor, in the stomach. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was chased down by an onlooker and an off-duty police officer.

Emergency management officials in Hamilton County want residents there to be prepared for possible flooding this weekend. A Flood Watch goes into effect Friday evening for the area. Sandbags will be available in Noblesville beginning at 3 p.m. Friday for residents in food-prone areas. The Indianapolis Department of Public works is also encouraging Marion County residents to clear storm drains and drainage ditches to reduce the risk of flooding.

One man was killed and another left in serious condition after a gunfight Thursday night on the near-north side. Tyler Webster, 21, of Indianapolis was found dead in the driver’s seat of a gold Chevrolet Impala in the 2800 block of North Harding Street about 11 p.m. Kyle Lewis, 19, of Indianapolis was found in a nearby alley with gunshot wounds. A passenger in the Impala was taken in for questioning by police.
