AAA said Indiana’s average for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.95 a gallon Monday, up 19 cents in a week. A garage fire early Tuesday morning on the south side of the city damaged an electrical transformer, knocking out power to about 45 Indianapolis Power & Light customers. Fire crews had to avoid downed power lines when they battled the fire in the 3700 block of South Randolph Street about 4:40 a.m. No injuries were reported.
A woman was seriously hurt after crashing her car into a building in Speedway about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The woman drove her blue Mercedes into Appearances Styling Salon near 16th Street and Lynhurst Drive. She was trapped in the vehicle for about 25 minutes until firefighters freed her. Police weren't sure what led to the crash.
