The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle said Monday that its customers can access BMV services through a new free application available for Apple and Android mobile devices. The BMV app, myBMV, offers registration renewals and can help users locate the nearest license branch.

Car break-ins strike Fashion Mall

December 4, 2012

An outbreak of car break-ins has struck the Fashion Mall, according to police. At least six break-ins were reported near the popular Indianapolis shopping destination over the weekend. One driver who parked in the Fashion Mall garage lost her iPad and work laptop on Sunday afternoon to a thief who used a tool to remove the lock from the door of her vehicle. Police say such thefts typically rise prior to Christmas and warn shoppers not to store valuables in their vehicles.

Shelbyville clerk thwarts robbery

December 4, 2012

A clerk at a Shelbyville gas station shot and wounded one of two men who tried to rob the business, police say. The two men entered CountryMark Bonded Gas along Indiana 44 near the city's downtown Monday night about 9:15, according to police, and tried to attack the clerk, who shot at them. The men fled, but were tracked down within 45 minutes. The wounded man was flown to the hospital for treatment.

Catamaran Corp. will add 50 jobs in Indianapolis over the next year to help it provide pharmacy-benefit-management services to the Indiana Medicaid program. The Illinois-based company will open an office downtown Tuesday to kick off its six-year, $60 million contract with the state.

The average rate for 30-year mortgages dropped from 3.53 percent to 3.52 percent in the week ended Nov. 28, according to Bankrate.com. The rate for 15-year mortgages was unchanged at 2.86 percent.
