Web services firm plans downtown office, 300 jobs

Motorcyclist dies in crash with SUV

A motorcyclist was killed after an apparent collision with a sport-utility vehicle Monday night on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Police said the motorcycle rear-ended the SUV about 8:15 p.m. while both vehicles were traveling east on East 34th Street near North Gale Street. The cyclist was taken to Wishard Hospital, where he died. Police say it did not appear that alcohol or excessive speed was factors in the crash, but the cyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Firefighter hurt in possible arson

An Indianapolis firefighter was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after battling a house fire on the north side. The blaze broke out about 2:30 a.m. in a vacant house near West 28th Street and Indianapolis Avenue. It took almost 45 minutes to contain the fire, which caused an estimated $70,000 in damages. The injured firefighter suffered chest pain and dizziness. Arson investigators are examining the scene.

Burglars nab computers in Broad Ripple

Burglars stole thousands of dollars worth of computers from Broad Ripple businesses over the weekend, making off with records containing personal information. The thefts took place sometime Sunday night in an office building in the 6100 block of North College Avenue. A co-owner of ITEX Indiana said the thieves broke through the back door of the building, walked into her office and stole her computer and camera. Examination Management Services Inc. also was burglarized.

The local Zender Family Limited Partnership again is attempting to sell the buildings after failing to attract a suitable buyer four years ago. The family is expecting better results this time because it’s willing to break up the portfolio and sell the buildings individually.
