Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman added William Dummett to its Indianapolis office, where he works advising hospitals and physicians on health information technology issues. Dummett holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and earned his law degree at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

Dr. Ryan Johnston has been named director of IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital internal residency program in Muncie. Johnston, who holds undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University, replaces Dr. Matthew Neal, who will continue to be executive medical director of academic affairs for Ball Memorial.

Three arrested after woman’s death

December 5, 2011

Three people have been arrested in connection with the killing of a woman whose body was found on fire near a central Indiana nature preserve. The body was spotted by motorists Saturday near the Craddock Wetlands Nature Preserve in Muncie. Detectives charged 24-year-old Terry Rutledge with murder. Police said Rutledge killed the victim before heading to a couple of bars. He, Regina Miller and Antowyn Warren left the woman’s body on the side of the road hours later. Rutledge has been charged with murder, obstruction of justice and assisting a criminal. Miller and Warren have been charged with obstruction of justice and assisting a criminal.

Boilers, Irish land bowl games

Purdue University will play Western Michigan University in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit Dec. 27. Purdue and the University of Notre Dame were the only Indiana universities to be invited to football bowls, according to a schedule announced Sunday. Notre Dame will play Florida State University in the Champs Sports Bowl Dec. 29 in Orlando, Fla. Ball State University was also bowl-eligible with a 6-6 record, but was not invited to a bowl.

Area school placed on lockdown

December 5, 2011

James Whitcomb Riley Elementary School, at 40th Street near Capitol Avenue, was placed on lockdown Monday morning while police searched for an armed suspect in the area. Police said the suspect fired multiple shots near 39th Street and Cornelius Avenue. Officers pursued the suspect to 40th and Graceland Avenue but the suspect ran away once confronted.

Carmel resident David Wasilewski has launched WhatNext, a website that uses algorithms to make it easier for cancer patients to connect with others in similar circumstances. Wasilewski, 39, spent eight years as chief operating officer of the Spanx line of body shapers and did health care consulting before that. In addition to helping patients, he thinks WhatNext can become a way for health care organizations share their expertise with patients in need.

Military contractor plans new Indiana headquarters

Sellersburg-based Rivera Consulting Group Inc. announced Monday that would build a new facility in Clarksville and expects to add up to 85 jobs over the next three years.

-Remittance Processing Services LLC renewed its lease for 6,915 square feet at 2960 N. Meridian St. The tenant was represented by Brooke Augustin of Alliance Commercial Real Estate. The landlord, Internal Medical Group Inc. represented itself.

Sales/acquisitions

Rookwood Custom Builders LLC bought 17 acres at Fishers Marketplace, at the northeast corner of State Road 37 and 131st Street in Fishers. The price wasn’t disclosed. The buyer, which plans to develop the 300-unit Addison Landing apartments on the eastern portion of the site, represented itself in the transaction. The seller, ONB Realty I LLC, was represented by Ashlee Boyd and Chris Hake of Thompson Thrift Development.

Rolls-Royce tax-incentives deal set for hearing

A plan to offer a 10-year tax abatement worth $23 million for Rolls-Royce Corp. to redevelop two plants on the west side and move thousands of office workers into downtown’s Faris campus is scheduled for an initial hearing Wednesday.
