Brown County remains identified

A southern Indiana coroner says skeletal remains found at a remote site in Brown County are those of a 26-year-old local woman who vanished two years ago. Brown County Deputy Coroner Earl Piper said that an Indianapolis forensic dentist and anthropologist who examined the remains confirmed they are those of Kate McGrayel, who was reported missing by relatives in April 2010. Two mushroom hunters found the remains in the 2500 block of Wise Hollow Road earlier this month. An official cause of death is expected to be released next week.

Truck tips over on I-465

April 26, 2013

A semi driver was injured Friday morning when his truck tipped onto its side on northbound Interstate 465 just north of the Interstate 74 interchange. Capt. Dave Bursten with the Indiana State Police said it appeared the driver didn’t fully secure the 44,000 pounds of lead bars he was hauling. When the truck came around the ramp off I-74, the bars started to shift, causing the driver to lose control and the truck to tip. No other vehicle was involved in the accident. Bursten said emergency responders would keep one lane of I-465 closed until they offload the semi.
