Daniels announces more cuts as state revenue falls again

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels on Friday announced a series of spending cuts and other steps designed to offset a continuing multimillion-dollar
decline in state revenues. If the trend continues without spending cuts, he said, Indiana’s reserves would be wiped out by
next August.

Man jumps 40 feet, ending police chase

November 6, 2009

A traffic stop for a seat-belt violation yesterday afternoon led to a chase and a 40-foot fall. Richard Stedman, 44, was pulled
over in Plainfield because one of his two passengers wasnâ??t buckled in, according to police. After his passengers got out
of the car, Stedman took off, leading police onto Interstate 70 at speeds close to 100 mph. The car chase ended at Indianapolis
International Airport when Stedman hit a retaining wall at the arrival ramp, got out of the vehicle and jumped over the wall.
Stedman, who has outstanding warrants for burglary and receiving stolen property, was taken to Wishard Hospital with serious
injuries.

UPDATE: Life science firm to add 100 jobs at Park 100

California-based life science firm Beckman Coulter Inc. is moving its precision plastics injection molding operation
to the Park 100 business park on Indianapolis’ northwest side, making what it calls a multimillion-dollar investment in the
operation.

Ball State student mugged, severely beaten

November 6, 2009

In the latest in a string of assaults at Ball State University, student Kyle Evans, 23, was attacked at 3:30 a.m. Thursday
as he walked home from a bar. Police say a group of men attacked him with baseball bats and Tasers, and then stole his wallet
and cell phone. The victim was rushed to the hospital with a head injury and is recovering. No suspects were caught.

Hoosier injured in Fort Hood shooting

November 6, 2009

One of the 30 people wounded in yesterdayâ??s shooting massacre in Ford Hood, Texas, is from Indiana. Natahn Hewitt, who was
raised in Lafayette, was shot in the hip and the calf. He’s in a hospital, but expected to recover. Hewitt served in Iraq
and was due to ship off to Afghanistan within the next two months. Thirteen people were killed in the shooting. Fox 59 will
have more at 4 p.m.

Obama to sign homebuyer, jobless assistance bill

President Barack Obama is set to sign a $24-billion economic stimulus bill providing tax incentives to prospective homebuyers
and extending unemployment benefits to the longtime jobless who have been left behind as the economy veers toward recovery.

Education cuts could be coming, state schools chief says

The most obvious use for the old Wishard site is an expansion of the Indiana University School of Medicine, particularly for
