The Heartland Film Festival teams with the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Initiative for a series of cinematic celebrations of song. It kicks off grandly with three days of screenings. Thursday features “White Christmas.” Friday, it’s “The Sound of Music” in the afternoon and, in the evening, Feinstein introducing “An American in Paris.” Saturday brings “The Wizard of Oz.” If those titles feel overtly familiar, stay tuned for “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and “Kiss Me, Kate” (among others) coming soon. Resident, firefighter suffer injuries

November 13, 2012

A resident and an Indianapolis firefighter suffered minor injuries in a house fire Tuesday morning on the southeast side. The blaze began about 5 a.m. in the 2300 block of East Beecher Street, near East Raymond Street and South Keystone Avenue, when a 32-year-old man left a stove unattended. He suffered burns to his right hand and some smoke inhalation. The injured firefighter fell through the floor and twisted his knee.

Man fatally shot in south-side bar

November 13, 2012

One man was shot to death and another injured late Monday night in the Krazy Street Grille on the south side of Indianapolis. Police say numerous shots were fired during a fight about 11 p.m. at the nightclub in the 400 block of East Thompson Road. The man who was killed suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The other victim was in fair condition and being detained at Wishard Hospital pending an investigation.
