Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard say more local transit options are needed despite the steep cost. A ballot referendum would be required so voters could consider a 0.3-percent income-tax increase to pay for a $1.3 billion project.

-Fresnius Medical Care leased 21,673 square feet at 1320 City Center Drive, Carmel. The tenant was represented by Tim Norton and Jon Jessup of Summit Realty Group.  The landlord, Panattoni, was represented by R.J. Rudolph and Tom Osborne of Colliers International.

-Restaurant Technologies Inc. leased 13,095 square feet of industrial space at 7998 Centerpoint Drive. The tenant was represented by Frank McManus of UGL Equis. The landlord, Clarion Partners, was represented by Fritz Kauffman and Bryan Poynter of Cassidy Turley.

-On Time Delivery Inc. leased 7,200 square feet of industrial space at 5146-5148 W. 79th St. The tenant was represented by J.D. Graves of CBRE. The landlord, Indy Flex Investors LLC, was represented by Kyle Powell and Bryan Poynter of Cassidy Turley.

Illinois tax breaks could trigger demand for more

Under the threat of losing thousands of jobs to other states, Illinois lawmakers on Tuesday approved a tax-relief package meant to keep Sears and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange from leaving. The state’s governor is expected to sign it.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn on Friday signed tax-break legislation designed to keep the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Sears Holding Co. from fleeing the state. CME had talked to Indianapolis officials about moving to central Indiana.

-Meyer Najem Construction has been hired to build the Westfield Grand Park Sports Complex at State Road 32 and U.S. 31. Construction of the 350-acre indoor/outdoor facility has started and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2013.

-Capitol Construction completed a 31,400-square-foot build-out for Belden at 401 N. Pennsylvania Parkway, Carmel.

-Capitol Construction completed a 4,000-square-foot build out for Watermark at 5875 Castle Creek Parkway.
