  1. I can’t think of a reason for the United States to be importing cattle to cover domestic demand for beef. Bring back American family farms and ranches. Use subsidized land more effectively and stop paying for crops to be destroyed. Monopolistic practices in processing seem to be the biggest hurdle toward most any change. Last check there are 4 big companies controlling sub-primal supply keeping smaller startups out of the market. If consumers turned their back to factory farms and colorful tubes of ground beef loaded with pink slime (allegedly the demand product) our nation would be healthier without a need for imported protein. Instead I fear government is just going to tell us we need to eat less beef, on the guise that cattle emissions are so bad for the environment. Our reliance on factory farming, energy production infrastructure, and vehicle emissions are most definitely more to blame environmentally than cow farts!

  2. There is no reason for the U.S. to be importing beef from any country. This issue is the birthchild of greed by large companies that have been allowed to establish monopolistic control over the beef industry.
