    1. You missed the fact that this is a cost avoidance strategy also. Rental cars are being parked in other areas and that has a cost to airport operations.

  1. Is this a hidden bait and switch? Is this a preview for a remote rental car facility that of course would impact passengers making IND as unnecessarily inconvenient as CVG and CLE ! Those arriving will be subject to waiting for a shuttle bus upon arrival and departure, which will not have adequate or any racks for luggage, then deposited in a vast car lot, minimally protected where persons would be subject to the elements which in Indiana means unpleasant rain, downpours, snow, slush, and sleet.

Currently, rental car access at IND is among the best in the nation, The Indianapolis airport is small, hardly major, and the current garage has ample space to accommodate rental cars and to provide passengers a pleasant experience which mitigates the dearth of direct and convenient flights in normal-sized aircraft.

So what is the real issue? More parking for patrons and visitors is a red herring. Is there a robust analysis point toward a significant increased in garage parking demand. The noted justification for this project appears weak — more space for visitors and guests at a minor airport with few flights. If the objective is more revenue from the rental agencies, at their current locations, then why not increase use rates which of course would be passed on to users as part of rental fees.

    1. The development of this lot will have no impact on the public or passenger experience when retrieving or returning rental cars,”
