Sadly a genuinely good person and very effective leader who would be ridiculed by today’s GOP.
He was ignored by the gop when he first ran, nobody thought he had a chance. He did a grass roots campaign basically door to door 7 days a week. He did get enough money for his effective commercials….’had enough?’.
+1
He was more of a ceremonial mayor than anything, not a visionary or policy oriented one as the others going back to Lugar. His first term (and even part of his second term) rode the coat tails of Peterson with the Lucas Oil stadium opening and then Indy hosting the Super Bowl. He had no major legacy policy successes, and left the city deeper in debt with the selling off of public assets long term for quick, short term cash infusions to fix thing like paving roads which need constant repair. Even the title of his book is boring. I will not be interested in anything he writes about.
Seethe little boy, seethe.
