Cyclist reports sexual attack

May 23, 2013

Indianapolis police are looking for a bicyclist who allegedly forced another bicyclist to have sex with him, stole his money and then shot him when he tried to get away. The reported attack happened at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday near 11th Street and Tacoma Avenue. The victim was shot in the buttocks and left ankle when he tried to run away. He said his assailant was in his early 20s and carried a silver or chrome handgun.
 

Two arrested for armed robbery

Police have arrested two men in connection with a May 16 armed robbery at a Franklin pharmacy. Davonte Hubbard was charged Tuesday with armed robbery and Devan Twitchell was charged Wednesday with aiding an armed robbery. Pharmaceuticals were taken at gunpoint in the robbery at Henderson Drug Store. A third suspect, Hayden Glass, died of an overdose the day after the robbery.
 

High-end prostitution ring targeted

Indianapolis police are seeking the alleged madam in a high-end prostitution ring after arresting one of her possible partners in crime at a Keystone Crossing hotel. Veronika Leblanc, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday night at the Sheraton Indianapolis and charged with prostitution. An arrest warrant was issued for 29-year-old Anzhelika Rampone, who police say organized a meeting between an undercover officer and Lebanc. Police seized $200,000 in cash and about $100,000 in jewelry from the pair. Leblanc is accused of charging $500 or more an hour for sex.

Fishers to fine for fireworks

The Fishers Town Council has passed a fireworks ordinance that subjects residents to fines of $150 or more for setting off personal pyrotechnics at unapproved times. Fireworks will be allowed from 5 p.m. until two hours after sunset June 29 through July 3 and July 5 through July 9. They also can be set off between 10 a.m. and midnight on July 4 and from 10 a.m. Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. Jan. 1.

Shots fired after break-in

Police seek two armed men who allegedly broke into a Westfield apartment Wednesday morning and fired shots as they escaped. The shooting happened at the North Union apartment complex near Westfield Boulevard and State Road 32 about 6:30 a.m. No injuries were reported. Police say the incident was drug-related.

Harbaugh to drive pace car

May 22, 2013

Jim Harbaugh, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback and head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, will pace the field for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500. Race officials announced Wednesday that he will lead the field of 33 cars in a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray pace car. Harbaugh is a racing fan and a principal owner of Panther Racing, which has two cars in the race. This marks a record 12th time a Corvette has served as pace car.

Polaris plans $4.7 million laboratory expansion

Polaris Laboratories LLC, an Indianapolis-based company that analyzes oil, fuel and coolants, said it plans a $4.7 million local expansion that will add up to 25 employees by 2016.
