WTTV-TV Channel 4 has added a new meteorologist to its on-air staff after bidding farewell to a couple of forecasters in recent months.

Star Derry joined Tribune Broadcasting’s WTTV in late March as its weekday morning meteorologist. She also will appear on Tribune’s WTTK-TV Channel 29 in Kokomo.

Derry, a 2014 Southern Illinois University graduate, comes to WTTV from WKOW-TV Channel 27, an ABC affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin. She worked at WKOW for nearly two years.

Prior to that, Derry worked at WIFR-TV in Rockford, Illinois, from December 2014 to September 2016.

During college, Derry was a weather intern at WGN-TV in Chicago.

WTTV appeared to have some vacancies at the position. In late February, Brittany Rainey, who worked as a weather and traffic reporter for WTTV and its local sister station, WXIN-TV Channel 59, departed for a job with WTVT-TV Channel 13, a Fox affiliate in Tampa. Rainey had worked for the local Tribune affiliate stations for two years.

In Indianapolis, Rainey typically handled weekend duties but frequently filled in on other newscasts throughout the week.

During her 10-year career, Rainey also worked at TV stations in Missoula, Montana; Hastings, Nebraska; Huntington, West Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

WTTV lost meteorologist Lindsay Riley in December. Riley had been with WTTV, primarily appearing weekday mornings, since the station snagged the city’s CBS affiliation from WISH and launched its own newscasts in January 2015.

Before joining WTTV, Riley, a Pennsylvania State University graduate, worked for the NBC affiliate in Dallas. Before that, she worked for stations in Lexington, Kentucky, and Buffalo, New York.
