A $20 million improvement of West 38th Street between Guion and High School roads that is set to begin next month is the first in a series of initiatives that stakeholders hope will revive the real estate fortunes of the area anchored by Lafayette Square Mall.

I-465 open again after accident

All lanes of westbound Interstate 465 are back open on the south side of Indianapolis after an early-morning traffic accident.
Police say a dump-truck driver hit a semi, causing that semi to crash into another semi shortly after 2 a.m. Friday. Nobody
was seriously injured, but lanes were closed for hours while hazardous materials were cleaned up.

State police set for busy weekend

Indiana State Police say they will have extra troopers on the state's highways during the long holiday weekend. The agency
says troopers will be specifically looking for drivers who speed, follow too closely, make unsafe lane changes and drive aggressively.
They'll participate in two operations designed to reduce accidents and crack down on drivers operating under the influence
of alcohol or drugs.

Police arrest 3 for holding woman captive

An anonymous tip may have saved the life of a 65-year-old woman who was discovered locked inside a small room in Anderson.
According to police, someone contacted the Madison County Prosecutor’s office, saying a woman with dementia was locked
in a room without food or access to a restroom. The caller also said her captors were cashing the woman’s Social Security
checks and stealing her prescriptions. Police found Anna Turner in deplorable conditions. The officer who found her said she
weighed just 85 pounds and had cuts all over her body. Officers arrested three people in the home: Luigi Amalfitano, 45, his
son Louis Amalfitano, 20, and Louis’ 21-year-old girlfriend, Stephanie Cole. Child Protective Services also took custody
of three children in the home. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.

Borders closed, most Castleton stores open

Simon Malls spokesman Les Morris said 110 out of 130 Castleton Mall stores were open late this morning, after a water-main break near the Borders bookstore.
