Motorcyclist dies after I-74 crash

July 26, 2013

State police say a motorcyclist was fatally injured when he crashed while speeding and doing a wheelie on Interstate 74 near the Shelby County community of Pleasant View. Jeremy Baatz, 35, of Shelbyville lost control Thursday evening  and crashed into a ditch. He was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he was pronounced dead.

Dozens flee apartment fire

July 26, 2013

More than 40 people scrambled to safety as an early-morning fire destroyed much of their apartment building on the northwest side of Indianapolis. The blaze, reported at Woodridge Apartments at about 1:45 a.m., displaced 43 residents and damaged or destroyed 16 units. No residents were injured.

Republic Airways earnings rise despite lower revenue

The Indianapolis-based company on Thursday reported quarterly earnings of $24.6 million, a 23-percent increase over the previous year. The earnings beat consensus analyst predictions by 4 cents per share.

Buffett says coal’s decline in U.S. to be gradual, yet permanent
