Carmel police hope two arrests Monday will end a six-week string of daytime home burglaries. Two of three juveniles were taken into custody after witnesses say they saw them break into the back a home in the Walden Pond neighborhood near 99th Street and Westfield Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m. Before the break-in, the teens knocked on the doors of other homes and asked residents if they had seen a missing dog. Police say the method is similar to the approach used in multiple break-ins this summer in Carmel.
A man charged Tuesday with a brutal rape at a Greenwood apartment complex was on probation for a rape conviction and had been arrested in late July for an alleged sexual assault. Shawn Corbally, 33, was preliminarily charged with three counts of rape, burglary, confinement, intimidation and residential entry. Police say Corbally was identified by a woman who was raped Sunday at Ashmore Trace apartment complex. Police said he was easy to catch because of his unique tattoos. Corbally was released from prison in February after serving roughly half of a 25-year sentence for rape. He was arrested July 21 for an alleged sexual assault at an Indianapolis apartment building but was released three days later with no charges filed.
