-Goodwill Education Initiatives Inc. leased 22,198 square feet at 2855 N. Franklin Road. The landlord, Norry Management, was represented by Matt Langfeldt and Rich Forslund of Summit Realty Group. The tenant represented itself.

-Shepherd Insurance LLC leased 18,853 square feet at The Congressional, 116th Street and Pennsylvania Parkway, Carmel. The tenant was represented by John Crisp of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, Lauth Group Inc., represented itself.

Armed robber sought in Carmel

Carmel police are looking for two suspects after an armed robbery. The victims told police that a brown Chevrolet Impala pulled up next to them at 10801 N. Michigan Road Tuesday night. Two men with guns got out of the car and demanded money. After the victims handed over a wallet and purse, the men drove away. No one was injured.

Pair arrested in Fishers burglaries

July 11, 2012

Two men were arrested Tuesday and charged in connection with multiple residential burglaries in Fishers and Carmel. Cousins John Maryfield, Jr., 28, and Derrick Maryfield, 23, both of Indianapolis, were apprehended after a witness called police about a burglary in progress in a neighborhood near 141st Street and Cumberland Road. Police say the pair  may be responsible for at least six burglaries or burglary attempts in Fishers this month. Carmel police and Hancock County officials are looking into whether the brothers committed similar crimes in their areas.

Hauke receiver files suit against his former accounting firm

The lawsuit accuses convicted money manager Keenan Hauke’s former accounting firm of negligence for failing to monitor Hauke’s bank accounts, enabling him to use investor funds for his personal use. Hauke was sentenced in March to 10 years in prison.

Burglaries on rise in Carmel

July 6, 2012

Carmel Police are warning residents about an increase in burglaries in the city. The city has received reports of at least 17 burglaries since June 1, including four over the July 4 holiday. In many of the burglaries, intruders knocked on the front door before breaking into unoccupied homes. If somebody answered the door, the suspects claimed to be selling magazines or looking for a lost pet.

-Indiana Discount Mall renewed its lease for 87,824 square feet of retail space at Lafayette Place, 3585 Commercial Drive. The tenant and landlord, Sandor Development, represented themselves.

-SE Warehousing & Logistics Inc. leased 49,988 square feet of industrial space at 3250 N. Post Road. The tenant was represented by Greg Witkowski of CBRE. The landlord, Forester Properties Inc., was represented by Bryan Poynter of Cassidy Turley.

Performing arts center’s new chief to chase donations

Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, incoming CEO of The Center for the Performing Arts, turned a $500,000 deficit into a $300,000 surplus at her current organization in Tennessee. The 18-month-old Carmel center’s budget is almost seven times larger.
