An Indianapolis police officer was arrested Tuesday, accused of engaging in unlawful activity at a strip club while on duty. Sgt. Michael Forrest was charged with official misconduct and patronizing a prostitute. A report says Forrest went to the Sunset Strip Gentleman’s Club on the city’s west side on Nov. 9 and engaged in sexual activity with a dancer. Police said the entire incident was captured on the club’s surveillance video. Forrest, a 23-year veteran with the department, was suspended without pay.
Indiana State Police drug enforcement officers captured an estimated $900,000 worth of marijuana from a truck traveling on Interstate 70 in Hancock County at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. A trooper pulled over a 2001 Chevrolet pickup driven by Joseph Ground of Hollis, Maine, for a routine traffic violation. The truck was searched after the officer observed indicators and odors consistent with marijuana use. Dozens of bags of high-quality hydroponic pot were hidden within large speakers located among musical instruments in the truck's bed.
Two men drove a stolen sport-utility vehicle through the front door of a Greenwood gun store early Wednesday and made off with firearms, police said. Russ Elmore, owner of Elmore's Firearms on State Road 135, said the incident was captured on surveillance video. The men spent 38 seconds in the store at about 2:45 a.m. before fleeing with a semi-automatic rifle, a handgun and a silencer. Their attempts to take more weapons were unsuccessful, because the guns were locked down. The stolen weapons are worth about $10,000, and damage to the building is estimated at $25,000.
