A 39-year-old Indianapolis man died early Thursday morning after being shot several times while sitting in a vehicle in the 3400 block of Garden Avenue. Two suspects escaped by foot. Police found the victim in the passenger seat of a green Suzuki SUV at about 1 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Wishard Hospital a short time later. The vehicle was driven by a female, who was unharmed.
An 11-year-old boy was killed and another boy critically injured when they were struck by a car Thursday morning as they walked to school in New Castle. The two were walking to Westwood Elementary School along County Road 100 South at about 7:15 when they were hit. The injured boy was taken by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
